Why Google categories
CDON have decided to implement Googles taxonomy because it is the most widely known and used.
As CDON vision is to make it as simple as possible for our merchants to work with us we have decided to make it possible to use Google categories when adding products to CDON Marketplace.
Google categories + CDON attributes = Better results
By adding attributes to complement the Google categories we are able to further improve our ability to match your products with relevant customers and increase your visibility on CDON Marketplace.
This does not mean that your products will be disqualified if you chose not to enhance your product with additional attributes, but their visibility might be limited compared to similar products with attributes. For more information regarding attributes click here.
What happened with CDON categories?
All products that today are categorized according to our old CDON taxonomy will automatically be mapped to the matching Google taxonomy.
Unfortunately, if the product is incorrectly categorized today within the old CDON taxonomy they will be mapped to the wrong Google taxonomy as well. CDON’s recommendation is to make the switch to Google categories to take advantage of all potential on CDON Marketplace.
Click here to download our Excel containing the CDON to Google category mapping in worksheet CDON to Google category mapping. The mapping is final and if you do not agree with the mapping the only way to make sure your product is shown in the correct Google category is to start using Google categories directly.
